1. Look for a reputable brow expert and check the specialist’s own eyebrows, as this is always a good indication of what to expect.
2. Let your eyebrows grow in for at least 2 weeks before the appointment; the more hair, the better.
3. Discontinue using the following exfoliants for at least 2 weeks before your schedule visit:
a) Alpha Hydroxy products, Vitamin C products, Acne products, Glycolic Acid treatments and wrinkle removing products.
b) Discontinue using Acutane at least 3 months prior to your appointment.
c) You should not wax if you have had a recent laser peel or cosmetic facial work.
4. If you have gray hair – don’t tweeze it! Color it! Ask your aesthetician to tint it at the same time with your brow shaping.
1. Get your eyebrows professionally done, even if it’s only 2 – 3 times a year.
2. Once you have the brows you love, maintain them by tweezing the new growth every 2 – 3 days.
3. Tweeze in natural daylight using a large mirror and preferable after a hot shower (it is less painful as pores are open).
4. Focus on removing hair between the eyebrows and the brow bone – don’t tweeze any hairs above your eyebrows as you can create holes – leave this to the professionals to be waxed.
5. Always tweeze both eyebrows together, taking only a few hairs from each at time so you’ll end up with symmetrical looking brows.
6. To make your eyes more luminous tweeze a bit more from the inside corner of your eyes.
7. Invest in quality tweezers – they are essential.
8. Feel in gaps with pencil or brow powder and set eyebrows with brow gel.
9. … and did I mention? No stencils – thank you! After all you wouldn’t use a bowl to shape & cut your own hair now, would you? I don’t use stencils and certainly I don’t recommend you use them at home.
10. Last, but not least: Keep it natural!
